How we research and calculate

Where the reference information comes from, what our tools calculate and why results still need shipment-specific checks.

Straight answers for international freight planning.

International freight logistics

Reference sources

Freight rules and local processes are moving targets. Use this website to prepare your questions; use the current authority or contracted transport provider for binding instructions.

ISO 3166 country names

The country directory is based on ISO 3166 country and territory entries via the pycountry dataset, combined with administrative reference data for discovery.

Official reference ↗

UN/LOCODE

Port and location codes are shipping identifiers. The on-site list is curated rather than the full, continuously updated official code set.

OurAirports open data

Airport names and codes are indicative. Official airport and cargo operation details must be checked with the relevant operator.

ICC Incoterms® rules

Our editorial summaries explain common commercial questions and do not reproduce or replace the official rules.

How the location directory works

The offline directory contains 249 ISO country and territory names plus capitals and available administrative subdivisions from a bundled reference dataset. Additional curated major cities, 57 named port entries and 49 airport entries help with initial exploration. Smaller cities and street addresses are accepted as free text in the freight quote form; no claim is made that all settlements or terminals are enumerated.

Calculator limits

CBM and basic conversions use arithmetic on dimensions. Loading metres use a simplified vehicle-floor model. Pallet and container estimators use rectangular orientations, and do not validate stacking, axle loads, cargo restraint, door geometry, structural support or local regulations. Air dimensional weight uses a user-selected divisor rather than an assumed single universal tariff.

Editorial policy

Each service and document guide explains distinct operational decisions rather than generating thousands of nearly identical location pages. No live prices, real-time tracking data, fake testimonials or invented company credentials are published. Corrections should be checked against primary sources.

Country guide source and update policy

Nineteen selected country profiles include links to the relevant customs authority, UNECE UN/LOCODE and IATA airport-code references. The editorial date indicates the last content revision, not confirmation of live terminal space, rates or border release. Country codes and airport identifiers are reference inputs and should be checked again against the official registers for transport documents.
